Commencement of Hearing procedures against Kubota Corporation (Price fixing cartel case involving manufacturers and sellers of steel pipe piles)

In relation to the cease and desist order and the surcharge payment order against manufacturers and sellers of steel pipe piles and steel sheet piles given by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) on June 4, 2008, Kubota Corporation, which is a manufacturer and seller of steel pipe piles, requested a hearing about the surcharge payment order (2008 (Payment) No. 28). The JFTC decided on September 3, 2008 to commence the hearing procedures in accordance with the provision of Paragraph 3, Article 52 under the Antimonopoly Act and gave a notice to that effect to Kubota (For an outline of the surcharge payment order etc. in this case, refer to Press Release dated on June 4, 2008 on the JFTC website.).
