Commencement of Hearing procedures against Sharp Corporation and Hitachi Displays, Ltd.

Japan Fair Trade Commission

 Sharp Corporation and Hitachi Displays, Ltd. requested a hearing on the cease and desist orders issued by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) on December 18, 2008 to manufactures and sellers of TFT liquid crystal display module (See Note)
used for display screens of hand-held gaming devices manufactured and sold by Nintendo Co., Ltd. (2008 (Measures) No. 20)and Sharp Corporation requested a hearing on the surcharge payment order issued by JFTC on the same day to the above manufactures and sellers (2008 (Payment) No. 62). The JFTC decided on March 10, 2009 to commence the hearing procedures in accordance with the provision of Paragraph 3, Article 52 under the Antimonopoly Act and gave a notice to
that effect to Sharp Corporation and Hitachi Displays, Ltd.
(Note)A liquid crystal display (a combination of a liquid crystal panel and backlight) combined with TFT liquid crystal display driver circuit (peripheral IC substrate).
