Japan Fair Trade Commission

The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) received a report from Amazon Services International, Inc. (ASII) that ASII would take voluntary measures on the parity provisions contained in the agreements with publishers or distributors on the e-books delivered from the Amazon.co.jp website.
The JFTC recognized that those measures would eliminate the competition concerns on the parity provisions.

The measures reported by ASII include the following.
- ASII will not enforce the contractual obligations of publishers or distributors regarding the parity provisions.
- ASII will notify publishers and distributors in Japan of the above measure by August 4, 2017.
