The JFTC Issued Cease and Desist Orders and Surcharge Payment Orders to the Distributors of Uniform Ordered by East Japan Railway Company and West Japan Railway Company

The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) today issued cease and desist orders and surcharge payment orders to the distributors of (1) the uniform(except the high summer uniform) for the employee serving customers such as train drivers and station staff (2) the uniform for engineer of the inspection, maintenance, etc. of the railway (3) the high summer uniform for the employee serving customers such as train drivers and station staff that East Japan Railway Company ordered in manner of collecting quotes. JFTC also issued a cease and desist order and surcharge payment orders to the distributors of the uniform that West Japan Railway Company ordered in manner of collecting quotes. The total amount of the surcharge to be paid is 45.29 million yen.

JFTC found that those distributors substantially restricted competition in the fields of the above uniforms by designating successful bidders and enabling those bidders to win the biddings.
