2 OUTLINE OF THE PROGRAM

THEME Technical Standard and Competition Policy
  • Competition Policy responding to Patent Tool
  • Regard from now on to the abuse of a patent regarding technical standard such as DELL COMPUTER issue and Rambus issue
[Outline]CPRC have studied on the theme "Technical Standard and Competition Policy" as the collaborative research of fiscal 2004 mainly led by Professor Nagaoka.
In this seminar, Assistant Professor Wakui participating in this project with Professor Nagaoka reported major issues regarding technical standard and competition policy such as "Effective license policy of essential patent regarding standard and the role of standardization body", "Classification of anti-competition behaviors regarding technical standard and the range of application of competition policy" with analyses of actual cases like Rambus issue and DELL COMPUTER issue in order to discuss tasks of competition policy in the field of intellectual property from now on.
