November 26, 2021
Competition Policy Research Center
As “start-ups” have the potential to significantly contribute to improving the productivity of the Japanese economy by promoting innovation, the growth of start-ups is critical for the economic growth. Although the number of start-ups in Japan has been increasing in recent years, it remains a lower level compared to other countries. There are a smaller number of growing start-ups. Start-up system like Silicon Valley has not been established.
At the symposium, experts gave presentations and had panel discussions on the current status of business practices involving start-ups, impediments to start-up growth, keys and conditions for start-up growth from the perspective of economics, and the role of competition law and policy for start-up growth.
