Discussion Papers on Ecosystems by Digital Platforms

Concerns have emerged about influential digital platform companies aggressively entering new markets that complement the activities in their main business domains, to strengthen their market positions by expanding their business networks, the so-called "ecosystems".
Theoretical and empirical rationales are required to analyze competition within platform ecosystems and we have decided to explore the theme by publishing discussion papers on relating topics. First, we review the theoretical research on competition among digital platforms. Second, we consider the empirical methods available to evaluate the negative impacts of anticompetitive behavior.
