Japan Fair Trade Commission

Today, I would like to talk about a consumer seminar being held by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) as part of its consumer education program.

Consumer Seminars are held by the JFTC to help consumers understand the significance of competition in the market economy by encouraging consumer groups and consumer life centers around the country to organize them.
At the Consumer Seminars, officials from the JFTC explain in an easy-to-understand way the significance of competition, in which businesses freely and ingeniously compete to develop and sell products and services that consumers choose, and as a result, businesses chosen by consumers grow.
In fiscal 2022, we held 83 Consumer Seminars across the country, and approximately 90% of the participants said that they have deepened their understanding of how the market economy works and the importance of competition.
The JFTC hopes that, by actively holding Consumer Seminars, more consumers will understand the significance and necessity of competition in the market, and we are currently inviting applications for Consumer Seminars to be held.
The JFTC dispatches instructors not only to consumer groups and consumer affairs centers, but also to small study groups, so if there are someone interested in Consumer Seminars, please feel free to contact the General Affairs Division of the Secretariat, the division in charge, or the Trade Division of any regional office or branch office of the JFTC. That's all from me.
