(G7 Joint Competition Enforcers and Policy Makers Summit (Tokyo))

Today, I would like to introduce the upcoming G7 Joint Competition Enforcers and Policy Makers Summit to be held in Tokyo. I already mentioned at the regular press conference on July 12th before, but let me talk about this again.
We will host a G7 Joint Competition Enforcers and Policy Makers Summit in Tokyo on 8th of this month, in cooperation with the Secretariat of the Headquarters for Digital Market Competition (HDMC), Cabinet Secretariat.
We aim to facilitate international efforts in digital field to promote improvement of competitive market conditions and effective competition law enforcement.
For that purpose, we will discuss challenges in and approaches to digital markets, and how to deal with emerging technologies.
Chair Furuya will attend the Summit. Besides, high-ranking officials of JFTC and HDMC will also attend.
The results will be published on our website after the Summit.
In addition, as the side event, Competition Policy Research Center will host a symposium entitled "The Role of G7 Competition Authorities under Social and Economic shifts" on the 9th of this month, the day after this Summit.
In this event, "Enforcement and Regulation in the midst of Full-fledged Digitalized Economy" will be discussed in the first session, and "Dynamisms of Merger Regulation" will be discussed in the second session.
We are currently calling for participants widely from the public. For details on how to register, please check the website of Competition Policy Research Center.
