The JFTC Holds the 19th Training Course for Developing Countries

The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) will hold the 19th training course for developing countries on competition law and policy from August 29 to September 27 in Tokyo, Osaka and Kobe, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Over recent years, more developing countries have introduced or enhanced their competition legislations. The training course takes place to provide officials of the competition authorities and competition-related authorities in such countries with opportunities to obtain the knowledge on the Antimonopoly Act and its enforcement, with the purpose of supporting the introduction or the enhancement of competition legislations in those countries.

The JFTC, in cooperation with JICA, has implemented the training course since 1994 in response to the request from the governments of the developing countries.

1. Period: August 29 to September 27, 2013
2. Venue: JFTC offices (Tokyo and Osaka) and JICA Kansai International Center (Kobe)
3. Organizers: JFTC and JICA
4. Participants: 12 officials from competition authorities and competition related authorities in 8 countries
5. Contents: Lectures by academians on the Antimonopoly Act and competition policies;
lectures by JFTC officials on investigation procedures and merger reviews, etc.
