Japan Fair Trade Commission

The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) will hold the training course for Asian countries on competition law and policy from June 3rd to 7th, 2013 in Tokyo, co-hosting with the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).

In recent years, many countries in the Asian region have introduced competition legislations or enhanced their law enforcements. Under such circumstances, this training course aims to contribute to effective implementation of competition law, review of the existing competition policy and law, and drafting a new competition law or amendments of the existing competition law, and eventually promotion of competitive environments in Asia, by providing officials in Asian competition-related agencies with the opportunity to obtain the knowledge and expertise on the implementation of competition law and policy in Japan.

The JFTC and the ADBI jointly organize the training course for the first time.

1. Period: June 3-7, 2013
2. Venue: JFTC Headquarters (Tokyo)
3. Organizers: JFTC and ADBI
4. Participants: 12 officials from competition related authorities in 7 countries
5. Contents: Lectures by academians on the Antimonopoly Act and competition policies; lectures by the JFTC officials on investigation procedures and techniques, merger reviews, etc.
