The Japan Fair Trade Commission Concluded Memorandum on Cooperation with the Competition Authority of Kenya

The Japan Fair Trade Commission (hereinafter, “JFTC”), on 9th of June, 2016 in Tokyo, concluded Memorandum on Cooperation with the Competition Authority of Kenya (hereinafter, “CAK”). The signers and the outline of this Memorandum are as follows:

1. Signers

The JFTC: Mr. Kazuyuki Sugimoto, Chairman
The CAK: Mr. David Ong’olo, Chairman

2. Outline

(1) Purpose of Cooperation

The purpose of this Memorandum is to contribute to the effective enforcement of the competition law of each country through the development of a cooperative relationship between the JFTC and the CAK (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Sides” and individually referred to as “Side”).

(2) Communication

(a) The Sides will provide the other Side with information that is relevant to the enforcement activities of the other Side.
(b) The Sides will exchange information on new/proposed legislation, etc.

(3) Technical Cooperation

The Sides recognize that it is in their common interest to work together in technical cooperation activities related to strengthening of competition policy and implementation of the competition law of each country.
