In accordance with the conclusion of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (hereinafter referred to as “CPTPP”), which was signed on March 8th, 2018 by 11 countries, including Japan, “The Bill for Partial Amendment of the Act on the Development of Related Legislation Following the Conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement” was approved by the House of Councilors and enacted today. This bill had been submitted to the National Diet on March 27th, 2018.
The bill makes necessary amendments of the Act on the Development of Related Legislation Following the Conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (hereinafter referred to as “The TPP Related Act” ), which includes partial
amendments of the Antimonopoly Act(AMA) to introduce a scheme to resolve suspected violations against the AMA voluntarily by consent between the JFTC and the enterprise (Commitment Procedures).

Ⅱ Outlines of the Enacted Act (See Attachment1)
1. The amendment of the title
The Title of the TPP Related Act shall be revised as “the Act on the Development of Related Legislation Following the Conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for
Trans-Paific Partnership”.
2. The amendment of the effective date
The effective date of the provisions (except partial provisions) of the TPP Related Act including the provision amending AMA shall be provided as the date of entry into force of the CPTPP in Japan.
* The Agreement shall enter into force 60 days after the date on which at least six signatories to this Agreement have notified the Depositary (New Zealand) in writing of the completion of their applicable legal procedures.

Ⅲ Date to become effective
The act shall be put into force on the day of the promulgation (except partial
provisions).
