Japan Fair Trade Commission
The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) will hold the 25th Group training course on the Antimonopoly Act and competition policy for developing countries from July 22 to August 9 in Tokyo and Osaka, in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
In recent years, many developing countries have introduced competition laws or enhanced their law enforcement. Under such circumstances, this training course takes place to provide officials in developing countries’ competition authorities, etc. with the opportunity to obtain the knowledge and expertise on the Antimonopoly Act and its enforcement, so as to support their efforts for introducing/amending competition laws and achieving effective law enforcement in their countries.
The JFTC has implemented the training course since 1994 in response to the request from governments of developing countries.
1. Period: July 22 to August 9, 2019
2. Venue: JFTC (Tokyo and Osaka), etc.
3. Lecturers: Academics, officials of JFTC
4. Participants: 8 officials of competition authorities, etc. in 8 countries
5. Contents: Lectures on
- Antimonopoly Act
- Investigation procedures and merger reviews
- Activities for competition advocacy and raising public awareness
- International cooperation
- Role of regional-office
- Group discussion on hypothetical case
- Compliance of the Antimonopoly Act
