Establishment of an Information Submission Form for Transactions Between Creators and Production Companies in the Film and Animation Industry

Today, I would like to introduce the establishment of an information submission form as part of the ongoing market study conducted by the JFTC to ensure fair transactions supporting creators. This form enables individuals to provide relevant information.

The JFTC has been actively promoting fair and free competition in the human resource and entertainment fields through various initiatives. As part of these efforts, on December 26 last year, the JFTC published the “Market Study on Transactions Between Performers and Entertainment Agencies in the Music and Broadcasting Industry.”

And starting this month, the JFTC has launched a market study on the transaction environment for creators in the film and animation production sites.

In the film and animation production sites, a multi-layered subcontracting structure is common, and concerns have been raised that sufficient revenue is not being returned to the production workers. Establishing a transaction environment that allows individual creators can fully realize their creative potential is an urgent issue. We kindly ask all relevant parties for their cooperation in this study.

Today (Wednesday, January 29), as part of this study, the JFTC has launched a dedicated information submission form on its website. We welcome submissions from individuals working in the film and animation production sites regarding issues such as the absence of contracts or order documents, unreasonably low compensation imposed unilaterally by ordering parties, unjustified order cancellations, excessive retake requests without compensation, and unmanageable schedules.

The department in charge of this matter is the Trade Practices Research Office of the Trade Practices Department.
