Recruitment of Digital Analysts for Fiscal Year 2025
The JFTC has been conducting market studies continuously to address competition issues in the digital field. Based on these studies, the JFTC identified concerns under the Antimonopoly Act and provided recommendations for necessary improvements, including regulatory measures. To effectively carry out these initiatives, the JFTC has recruited private-sector experts with specialized knowledge in the digital field as part-time government employees, known as “Digital Analysts,” who contribute to its efforts.
The Mobile Software Competition Act (the Act) partially came into effect last December with the enforcement of provisions related to the designation of providers subject to the Act. The Act is scheduled to be fully implemented by this December.
To ensure the effective implementation of the Act, it is essential to establish a robust framework that enables thorough examinations from a technical perspective, including assessments of smartphone technologies and the verification of security-related claims that would be made by relevant enterprises. For this purpose, we recognize the need to further strengthen and expand our team by recruiting additional experts with specialized knowledge in the digital field.
From this perspective, the JFTC decided to launch a public recruitment for Chief Technologist and Digital Analyst positions. The application process began today, Wednesday, March 5.
For details on the required skills and expected responsibilities for the positions being recruited, please refer to the respective job descriptions. In summary:
● Chief Technologist: Expected to work closely with management to oversee the overall management of Digital Analysts, as well as to lead the analysis and verification of security-related claims and other technical assertions that would be made by relevant enterprises.
● Mobile Engineer: Responsible for supporting technical verification and analysis related to smartphone operating systems and application stores.
● Software Engineer: Expected to contribute to program development for analyzing transaction trends and issues in the digital field, as well as to assist in designing tools for data collection and analysis.
In particular, for the Chief Technologist position, we are offering a salary package equivalent to Grade 8 of the Designated Service Salary Table, which applies to administrative vice-ministers—the highest-ranking administrative officials in government office and ministries. This compensation level has been set in consideration of the salaries offered to highly specialized digital experts in the private sector and other ministries and agencies.
The application process will proceed on a rolling basis, with an initial deadline set for Friday, April 4. We encourage anyone interested to consider applying.
