Profile and Papercraft of the JFTC’s Mascot “Dokkin”.

Today, I would like to explain the profile and papercraft of “Dokkin,” the official mascot of the JFTC.

The JFTC created its mascot “Dokkin” in 2010 with the aim of fostering familiarity among children—who will shape the future of Japan—with the JFTC and the Antimonopoly Act.
“Dokkin” appears on the JFTC’s website in the kids’ section, where the Antimonopoly Act and the JFTC’s activities are explained in an easy-to-understand manner. The character also features on the JFTC’s official social media accounts, such as X and Facebook, when sharing information about the JFTC’s activities.

In addition, the stuffed doll shown here travels extensively both nationally and internationally and is popular at international conferences. While parts of “Dokkin’s” profile—such as being an alien from Planet F.T.—had already been introduced, we have now created a full profile to make more effective use of the character in our public relations activities. The profile has been published today on the JFTC’s official website. It provides a more detailed look into the previously unknown nature of “Dokkin,” and we invite you to take a look.

At the same time of the creation of “Dokkin’s” profile, we have also developed a new papercraft model of the character. This papercraft is designed to be easy enough for young children to enjoy making together with their parents or guardians. It allows you to create a three-dimensional version of “Dokkin.” The template is available for download on the JFTC’s official website, and we encourage you to try making it yourself.

The JFTC will continue to provide clear and accessible information with the aim of enhancing public understanding of the Antimonopoly Act and the JFTC’s activities. By using these new materials as part of our public outreach efforts, we hope to reduce the perception that the JFTC is difficult to approach, and to foster greater familiarity with the JFTC among both businesses and consumers.
