Japan Fair Trade Commission
Publication of a Mini Guide and Leaflet on the Corporate Compliance Guide
Today, I would like to talk about a mini guide and leaflet on the corporate compliance guide.
The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) has been supporting business operators in their efforts to promote compliance with the Antimonopoly Act (AMA), with the aim of creating an environment in which competitive business activities are carried out autonomously.
As part of these efforts, the JFTC published the “Guide for the Design and Implementation of an Effective Antimonopoly Act Compliance Program” (AMA Compliance Guide) in December 2023. In October 2024, the JFTC also conducted a fact-finding survey on AMA compliance programs targeting companies listed on the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange for the first time in 12 years. Taking into account the results of this survey, the JFTC published the revised version of the AMA Compliance Guide in June 2025.
In addition, the JFTC has published a mini guide that concisely summarizes the key points for designing and implementing an AMA compliance program.
This Mini Guide explains the contents of the AMA Compliance Guide published in June 2025, using charts and illustrations. Each topic is generally presented on a single page. While the main guide consists of 90 pages, the Mini Guide has been condensed into 32 pages so that even readers who are encountering an AMA compliance program for the first time can easily understand the key points.
At the same time, the JFTC has also published a leaflet for top management. In designing and implementing the AMA compliance program, the commitment and initiative of top management are essential. We encourage top management to read this leaflet and recognize the importance of such a program.
The JFTC hopes that this Mini Guide and leaflet will help deepen understanding of AMA compliance programs.
