The JFTC's proposal, the ICN Framework for Merger Review Cooperation has been approved.

The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) propounded the establishment of an international cooperative framework for merger review and compiled it as “International Competition Network’s Framework for Merger Review” (hereinafter “the framework”). The Chairman of the JFTC,Kazuhiko Takeshima reported about the framework during the Merger Working Group Plenary Session at the 11th ICN Annual Conference and the establishment of the framework was approved at the conference on April 20.

The JFTC will promote the use of the framework in cooperation with member agencies of the ICN Merger Working Group by leading such activities as developing the contact list of liaison officers. Furthermore, the JFTC continues the active contribution to the ICN.
