JFTC holds meetings of procuring officials on prevention of bid-riggings

The JFTC has been convening " Meetings of Liaison Officials with the FTC on Public Bids" (Note 1) and holding workshops for procuring officials of prefectural and other regional governments (Note 2) for preventing bid-riggings. The JFTC will hold these meetings in FY2003 as below::

1 " Meetings of Liaison Officials with the FTC on Public Bids"

Meeting of liaison officials of ministries and agencies: Tokyo, 1 October
Meeting of liaison officials of regional bureaus of national ministries and agencies: 9 cities across the country from October

2 Workshops for procuring officials

For prefectural,city and town governments: Nationwide as needed
For public corporations etc.: Tokyo and Osaka from November

Note 1: Meetings of Liaison Officials with the FTC on Public Bids

The meetings have been held since FY1993 in order to prevent antimonopoly law violations regarding procurement by making information provision to the JFTC from the liaison officials of procuring offices smooth and improving coordination between the offices and the JFTC.
The procuring offices appoints the director in charge of accounting etc. as liaison official.

Note 2: Workshops for procuring officials

The JFTC, from the view point of preventing antimonopoly law violations, has been holding workshops for procuring officials of prefectural, city and town governments since FY1994 and for those of public corporations since FY1995 for the purpose of making the procuring officials more appropriately recognize bid-riggings and gather relevant information.
