JFTC orders surcharge payment from a participant of bids for road maintenance and civil engineering works let by Shikoku Regional Bureau of the Japan Highway Public Corporation (Nihon Doro Kodan)

The JFTC issued a surcharge payment order to Shikoku Road Service K.K on May 2, 2003 as follows:

1.

Violation which is the ground for the surcharge (Recommendation November 12, 2002; Decision December 4 2002)

Shikoku Road Service K.K and other three companies had been jointly allowing Shikoku Road Service K.K to win the bids for road maintenance and civil engineering works let by Shikoku Regional Bureau of the Japan Highway Public Corporation in the method of open-type designated competitive bidding (Violation of Section 3 of the Antimonopoly Act).

Note:
Road maintenance and civil engineering work means annual comprehensive work which contains traffic control, recovery work of traffic accidents, cleaning, preventive work against snow and ice, emergency work, planting work.

Company to receive the order/ sum of the surcharge

Shikoku Road Service K.K (Takamatsu-city) 2.721 million yen
