An international symposium titled "Digital Platforms and Competition Policy" was co-hosted by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) and Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), under the sponsorship of Nikkei Inc. and Fair Trade Institute on October 16 at CEATEC 2019. The JFTC Chairman, Mr. Sugimoto, gave the opening address. Five panelists from the European Commission, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Microsoft Corporation, NERA Economic Consulting and the Economic Affairs Bureau of the JFTC discussed competition law enforcement and competition policy under the digital era under the symposium moderator, Dr. Hiroshi Ohashi, Vice Dean, Graduate School of Public Policy, the University of Tokyo.
